ABOUT ME

This work is personal for me

I created Cora to support women caring for a parent with dementia, particularly when the emotional and practical load starts to affect their own wellbeing.

I know that experience personally. Dementia has affected my own family, and I know there is much more to caring than the obvious things.

There are appointments, decisions, paperwork and family logistics. Then there is everything that sits around them: worry, grief, frustration, guilt, interrupted sleep, changing roles, work, relationships and your own health.

It can be very easy to become the person who just keeps everything moving.

That experience is part of what led me to create Cora. I wanted to build something that supports the wellbeing of the person doing the caring, not only the needs of the person receiving care.

My work brings that lived understanding together with professional training in mental health, wellbeing, women’s health, menopause, sleep, stress and recovery.

“You can love someone deeply and still find caring really hard. Both things can be true.”

Why Cora?

The name Cora has a connection to the Greek word kore, meaning daughter.

That connection feels especially relevant to this work. For many women, caring for a parent with dementia changes what it means to be their daughter. Roles shift. You may find yourself organising, advocating, making decisions and caring for the person who once did those things for you.

For me, Cora also carries a heart-led meaning. It represents care, compassion and looking after the person behind the caring role.

So the name holds both ideas: the daughter and the care she gives.

My training and experience

Evidence-informed. Grounded in lived experience.

My work brings together professional training and personal experience of dementia within my own family. Both matter.

The training gives me frameworks, knowledge and practical tools. Lived experience gives me an understanding of how complicated caring can be in real life.
